This is undoubtably one of the most beautiful temple at ella area, It is built in the top of mountain area with great breathtaking view. there is Golden buddha statue, Bodhi tree and many more different statues, animals statues. it is a very calming and reaxin place. if you visit this place in a less busy day, it’s worthy to spend atleast one hour and enjoy the view, meditate and relax. located in kumbalwela, but also next to Ella. so if you’re visiting to ella, don’t forget to visit here aswell.

๐ Accessibility:
There is a good road. from main road,from main road, you will start climbig a hill for aroud 4-5 KM, but bikes, tuktuks, cars, vans and busses can go there easily. make sure keep distance between vehicles. narrow bends.
If you coming through a bus, there are no public transportation from main road to temple. so you have to walk for 4-5 KMs, or there is tuktuks you can take.

Kumbalwela Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery temple is open from 6am to 9.30 pm.
Open all 7 days.
๐ Best Time to Visit:
If you can choose morning time or evening, that will be a best time. especially to watch sunset.
This place get very busy and crowded on Weekends and Poyadays and long holidays. sometimes you can’t even drive to main car park. especially when long busses comes. If you have flexible schedule, try to avoid these days.

๐ Travel Tips:
Road conditions are good, carpet roads, but it is a narrow road with lot of bends, be carefull when driving.
Around 7KM for the temple from Ella Station, you can take a bus and get off at Kumblawela junction. but from there, you have to walk or take a tuk-tuk.
You have to purchase tickets for visit this place.
Bring some flowers to remple and you can serve it to lord buddha.
If you park your vehicle at top main park, you can leave your shoes, hats in your vehicles. because it’s not apropriate to wear hats, shoes, short dresses for temples.
Try to wear a white dress and a long dress. more apropriate for a temple.

There will be dhamma chanting performed at 6pm around the bo tree. you can join it if you want.
For foreign visitors, there is are special medidate programs: 5.45am-7.30am , 9.00am-10.45am, 3.30pm-6.30pm
